CALL FOR MURAL ARTISTS
The MILLERNTOR GALLERY is an annual international art, music and culture festival initiated by Viva con Agua ARTS and FC St. Pauli taking place 10.–13.07.2025 and contributes as project from Viva con Agua to our vision “Water for all – all for water”.
Every year, the Millerntor-Stadium becomes an open platform for dialogue and exchange – locally, internationally and interculturally. Artworks of all genres and a diverse musical, cultural and educational program demonstrate the different ways in which every person can contribute to a positive social and ecological transformation. Based on the volunteer work of more than 250 supporters, the MILLERNTOR GALLERY responds to the universal language of art and music to become an active member of our civil society. With #artcreateswater, we invite you to participate in the global call for artistic action.
Profits from the art sale support the work of Viva con Agua as well as the creative work of the participating artists.
THEME

The MILLERNTOR GALLERY #13 will play the theme ART CREATES WATER. In addition to the overall theme that will adorn every MILLERNTOR GALLERY from now on, we have decided on the curatorial theme CYCLE OF CONNECTION. The mural artists will deal with this theme in their works on the walls, which can then be admired in the stadium for a year.

CYCLE OF CONNECTION
For Viva con Agua, the focus is always on the cycle of water. This year, the MILLERNTOR GALLERY is expanding this focus and turning its attention to an equally essential, often stigmatised cycle: the menstrual cycle.

But there are also many other types of circle: cycles of movement, of togetherness, of connection, of the body, of nature, of geometric forms, of economic activity - perhaps all of which can be summarised as the cycle of life.

However, the term describes far more than the obvious. Cycles shape our world - they stand for constant change, renewal and connection. In nature, we see them in the form of water cycles, ecological cycles or the perpetual flow of resources in a circular economy. We are also influenced by the cycles of the sun and moon, the times of day and the seasons - cycles that rhythmically structure our lives and enable recurring renewal. Our society is also characterised by cycles: life cycles, menstrual cycles and the interplay of human relationships - everything is interconnected. This circularity forms the basis of our existence and is also reflected in the artistic expression of the MILLERNTOR GALLERY.

People from all over the world come together here to create a unique atmosphere in which passion and creativity flow into one another. Like a river that flows into the sea and becomes a mighty stream, the Gallery unleashes a collective force that leaves a lasting impression. Every year, this cycle returns and draws attention to relevant issues of our time and the right to access to water. The vision always takes centre stage: Art Creates Water!

This year, with the title Cycle of Connection, we are placing a special focus on the topics of menstrual hygiene, health and social interaction. Menstrual cycles are a natural part of life and yet are often stigmatised worldwide. We want to show why this should not be the case. Together with Viva con Agua, we are presenting creative projects that raise awareness and change perspectives. The message is clear: access to menstrual hygiene is a fundamental right and an essential part of human dignity.

Just like the female cycle, water is essential for life. It flows, connects and renews itself - a cycle that characterises our existence. This circularity inspires us to connect the flow of menstruation with the cycle of water, creating powerful, visually striking messages.

The circle is a central artistic symbol: without beginning or end, it represents unity, infinity and return. With this powerful image, we celebrate the cycles of life - from personal cycles to the global circular economy. The MILLERNTOR GALLERY itself becomes a space in which art, community and sustainability merge. A place where artists and visitors come together to give a voice to the natural cycles of life.

Let's close the loop and work together for a sustainable future. Cycle of Connection is more than a title - it is an invitation to be Artivisti, to be part of this movement and to help shape the MILLERNTOR GALLERY again this year.

True to our vision: Art Creates Water.
