Über den Tellerrand

Über den Tellerrand [“beyond one’s own nose“]

Refugee aid that tastes well! The satellite project “Über den Tellerrand Community HAMBURG” is organising cooking evenings inspired by the Berlin-based project “Über den Tellerrand kochen” (ueberdentellerandkochen.de). In Hamburg, several individuals, already existing initiatives (Café International im Thalia Theater Gaußstraße) and clubs („Die Insel hilft e.V.“) have come together to form the project „Über den Tellerrand Community HAMBURG“. As a network, they organize individual cooking events in the quarters of Hamburg, following existing examples from Berlin. Since July 2015, cooking events have taken place at least once a month. So far, Syrian, Eritrean, German and Iranian dishes have been on the menu. At the cooking events, locals and newly arrived people meet. Together they cut, talk and exchange on the same level. Within the scope of the Millerntor Gallery festival, you have the opportunity to join a cooking event! In small groups, delicious dishes from various countries will be prepared together and an international exchange is enabled.
